as enumerated in paragraph 60.

5. The Consulting Engineers strongly recommend that

the works proposed should be carried out by contract on the

same lines, as the Johore Causeway and other large works now

in course of construction under their supervision, and if

this procedure is adopted they suggest that the Director of Public Works, or his representatives, should come to London bringing with him all necessary information for inclusion in

the contract etc., so that all questions relative to the execution of the work could be thoroughly discussed with him.

6. I may add as regards paragraph 37 of the Report

that the particulars of the borings therein referred to have

since come to hand. The Consulting Engineers inform us

however that this additional information will not involve any

alteration in their recommendations.

7. We are sending a copy of the report, and of the drawings referred to therein, to the Colony by this week's

mail.
